Silver Economy Forum
On the 9th and 10th of July 2019, an important event, focused on “Silver Economy” will take place in Helsinki, Finland. The Forum is part of the official program of the Finland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, that will take over the EU Presidency from the Romanian government on 1 July 2019.
The concept of ‘Silver Economy’ has been developed in the last fifteen years as a response to demographic changes. It includes all the economic activities pertinent to the necessities of individuals of the average age above 50. In particular, at the European level, three main areas have been examined within the "Silver economy:
  1. Age friendly home/smart home
  2. Integrated Assistence
  3. Senior Tourism
The Forum will be promoted from the Global Federation of Ageing in collaboration with the Global Age-friendly Cities and Communities promoted by the World Health Organization, in which the region Friuli Venezia Giulia takes part. The event will represent a great opportunity to discuss various topics related to demographic change and will permit a comparison with the most innovatives Cities/Communities in the promotion of age-friendly urban settings.
