I mosaici fanno parte del 3° Simposio “Città di Udine” 2 - 14 ottobre 2017 e del 5° Simposio “Città di Udine” 1 - 13 ottobre 2018. Intitolato “Verso la luce / To the Light. Via Crucis”
Il titolo del Laboratorio musivo è stato Il mosaico, veicolo di incontro e integrazione sociale, con la direzione artistica del maestro Giulio Menossi, oltre alle 14 artiste provenienti da 12 paesi diversi. Il Simposio, ha visto la partecipazione di 22 persone con disabilità intellettive ospiti del Centro Socio Riabilitativo Educativo di Via Laipacco – Udine che hanno prodotto due mosaici della tradizione di Aquileia.
Il simposio è una grande esperienza di formazione estetica, oltre che un dono alla gente di Baldasseria, è un arricchimento culturale per la città intera. Molti mosaici sono tridimensionali, quasi sculture, altri mostrano geometrie intriganti, colori stupendi, linee e curve di grande bellezza. Le opere musive seguenti hanno una forte spiritualità, perché le artiste hanno saputo coniugare l’arte di comporre con l’arte di variar bene per una piacevole proporzione, come scrisse William Hogarth, nel 1753.
Molti autori si sono espressi riguardo al concetto di arte e sul mutamento della nozione stessa di arte. Sono ancor troppi oggi che reputano il mosaico un’ottima forma di artigianato, anziché un’arte a se stante. Penso che guardando le opere di questo 5° Simposio musivo “Città di Udine” molti visitatori avranno occasione di vivere delle sensazioni positive, emozionanti e di grande spiritualità.
La bellezza qui è messa in primo piano. Noi tutti e la città ne usciremo arricchiti; è come un'esperienza formativa. Grazie all’opera di queste eccezionali mosaiciste possiamo cogliere una resa estetica elevata, forse liberandoci dai preconcetti e dai sostrati culturali pregressi. Gustate l’aura che pervade questi capolavori. Lasciatevi portare con la fantasia dai colori luccicanti delle tessere musive, come vi ha incantato una poesia di un bravo poeta o come vi è piaciuta la musica di un celebre compositore.

The mosaics shown and described in this catalog belong to the 3rd Symposium "Città di Udine" that took place on October 2nd to 14th, 2017 and to the 5th Symposium "City of Udine" that took place on October 1st to 13th, 2018. They were entitled "To the Light. Way of the cross"
The subtitle of the Mosaic seminar was The mosaic, a vehicle for social integration, with the artistic direction of the Maestro Giulio Menossi, and in addition to the 14 artists from 12 different countries has seen the participation of 22 people with intellectual disabilities, guests of the Social Rehabilitation Center in Laipacco - Udine who produced two mosaics from the tradition of Aquileia.
The symposium is a great aesthetic experience, as well as a gift to the people of Baldasseria; it is a cultural enrichment for the whole city. Many mosaics are three-dimensional, almost made as sculptures, others show intriguing geometries, beautiful colors, lines and curves of great beauty. The following mosaic works have a strong sense of spirituality, because the artists have been able to combine the art of composing with the art of varying well for a pleasant proportion, as William Hogarth wrote, in 1753.
Many authors have expressed themselves regarding the concept of art and the change of the notion of art itself. There are still too many today that consider mosaic an excellent form of craftsmanship, rather than an art in its own right. I think that looking at the works of this 5th Symposium "City of Udine" many visitors will have the opportunity to experience positive, emotional and highly spiritual feelings.
The beauty here is put in the foreground. We all, and the city as well, will come out enriched; it's like an educational experience. Thanks to the work of these exceptional mosaicists we can grasp a high aesthetic yield, perhaps freeing ourselves from preconceptions and previous cultural substrates. Enjoy the aura that pervades these masterpieces. Let yourself be carried away with the shimmering colors of the mosaic tiles, just as you get enchanted by a poem of a known poet or how you like the music of a famous composer.
